How to write guitar tabs with Guitar Pro (2023) - Guide (16)

View – Show fretboard view

View – Show keyboard view

The size of the visual keyboard and keyboard can be easily adjusted by dragging the corners of the window. When you move through your score, you can see the corresponding notes on the fretboard or keyboard, and you can enter notes into the score directly from the visual fretboard or keyboard.

3. Midi keyboard or midi guitar for entering tabs and notes

Guitar Pro – Settings – Audio / MIDI
Under, underMIDI ULAZ, select your Midi keyboard / Midi guitar

To enable midi recording, select:

Sound – Midi recording

Don't expect to be able to play music on your midi keyboard and magically see the notes written down for you. It's just a way to enter your notes faster. The software cannot detect and overwrite the beat, so you have to enter it manually by adding/changing note values (selecting the right note values in the Editon Pallette or using the + and – symbols to quickly change to the right note values).

If you don't want to immediately convert your music to sheet music, you must first play it with a midi instrument in a digital audio workstation (DAW, such as Logic Pro), then export it from your DAW as a midi file and import the midi file in Guitar Pro. Note, however, that this might work for stringless instruments and sheet music, but not for stringed instruments such as guitar, and thus not for tab notes. The reason for this is that one note can be played at multiple positions (fretboard) on the guitar, and your DAW and Guitar Pro do not automatically know which positions on the fretboard to choose.

The bottom line

In Guitar Pro 7 and 8 we can change almost anything by clicking on it. Change the tempo by clicking on the specified tempo above the score. Click on a key, tuning or time signature to directly change it, etc. This makes it very easy to learn how to work with Guitar Pro! I hope this easy tutorial has helped you quickly start making guitar notes with Guitar Pro.
